Varana's midi skirt is crafted from lightweight, marble print silk. Developed exclusively for Varana, the printed silk has been handmade using the ancient Ebru technique. Each piece is unique, reflecting the irregularities that are characteristic of this ancient print method. Designed to sit on the hips with an elasticated waistband for a personalised fit, the silk midi skirt features hand pleating creating a soft, draping effect. Discrete side pockets and concealed side zip fastening add a clean, modern finish.

Marble Print Silk

Varana's bespoke, marble print silk is handmade using the UNESCO listed Ebru technique - the traditional Turkish art of creating patterns by sprinkling and brushing oil based pigments onto a pan of oily water and then transferring the patterns onto paper.

This traditional Turkish art has been adapted and translated onto fabrics by the craftspeople of India. The marbling fabric is developed based on the unique hand made technique of aqueous surface design, using water as a medium of transfer printing on the fabric surface.

The nature of this print makes each garment a unique piece.
