Embroidered Pashmina Shawl
Varana are proud to showcase a museum quality shawl made by hand in Kashmir. The base fabric is hand woven from the finest natural shade pashmina yarn, where the pattern is first hand block printed and then exquisitely embroidered using a technique known as 'Sozni'. Master craftsmanship is on display in the tiniest satin stitches which are worked identically on both sides of the fabric so that the reverse of the shawl is almost indistinguishable from the right side. The stitches are so flat and even that the shawl appears printed although it is embroidered. This is a rare piece that can be passed on and to be treasured as an heirloom of wearable art. By appointment available to view this piece at our flagship store in London.
